Half Girlfriend by Chetan Bhagat

Eyes wide open, l lay in bed, staring at the little flashing red light from the smoke detector on the ceiling, The journals bothered me. Sure, they lay in the dustbin. However, something about those torn pages, the dead person and her half-boyfriend, or whoever he was, intrigued me. Don’t go there, I thought, but my mind screamed down its own suggestion: Read just one page. If your question is Where can i download free books, find free ebooks, top article submission site- one of the big answer is everestebook.com
A small crowd of students, mostly men, had gathered around the Stephen’s basketball court. Girls’sports trials always garnered an audience—-there was no better excuse to check them out. Everyone spoke in English. I didn’t speak at all. I straightened my back and stared at the court with a sense of purpose, mainly to come across as if I belonged there. As ten girls came on to the court, the crowd cheered. Five of the girls belonged to the existing college team; the other five had applied for admission under the sports quota.

understanding the rules better, allows better play – coaches can create better team structure and tactics, allowing players full rein to display their skills;
––
understanding the relationship between rules allows officials to make better decisions.
This introduction at first focuses on Volleyball as a competitive sport, before setting out to identify the main qualities required for successful refereering.
VOLLEYBALL IS A COMPETITIVE SPORT
Competition taps latent strengths. It exhibits the best of ability, spirit, creativity and aesthetics. The rules are structured to allow all of these qualities. With a few exceptions, Volleyball allows all players to operate both at the net (in attack) and in the back of the court (to defend or serve).
William Morgan, the game’s creator, would still recognize it because Volleyball has retained certain distinctive and essential elements over the years. Some of these it shares with other net/ball/racquet games:
––
Service
––
Rotation (taking turns to serve)
––
Attack
––
Defence
Volleyball is, however, unique amongst net games in insisting that the ball is in constant flight – a flying ball – and by allowing each team a degree of internal passing before the ball must be returned to the opponents.

TEAM GAME
DIVIDED COURTS
The introduction of a specialist defensive player – the Libero – has moved the game forward in terms of rally length and multi-phase play. Modifications to the service rule have changed the act of service from simply a means of putting the ball in play to an offensive weapon.
The concept of rotation is entrenched to allow for all-round athletes. The rules on player positions must permit teams to have flexibility and to create interesting developments in tactics.

VOLLEYBALL COACHING MANUAL

A Philosophy for Coaching High School Athletes
High school coaching may be the most special and important
profession anyone can choose. This is because the young men and women who participate in high school sports are often influenced
tremendously by their athletic experience. As a coach, you have an opportunity to cultivate both their emotional and physical development.
The path to coaching success begins with defining a philosophy to guide your efforts.

Chapter

The High School Coach, Someone Special
ATHLETES MEET SPORTS THROUGH THE COACH
It is the coach who frames the sport experience for the athlete. A study released in 1990 of 10,000 high school athletes concluded that the quality of coaching has the greatest influence on whether participation in high school sports becomes a positive experience for the young athlete.
The sport of volleyball offers opportunities for athletic success to a wide variety of personalities, body types and natural athletic talent. With its opportunities for individual skill as well as team competition, few other sports can provide so much for so many. There are opportunities to develop physically, emotionally and socially. There are opportunities to discover hidden talents, learn about oneself, and develop a new sense of competence and self-worth. There are opportunities to be part of a team. There are lessons about life and reality. There is the motivation to pursue goals and objectives that most teenagers dismiss as being impossible. All these possibilities are woven into the unique fabric of sport. The responsibility of making them an intimate part of every athlete’s volleyball experience rests squarely on the shoulders of the coach.

THE ROLE OF THE COACH
What exactly is the high school coach’s role: recruiter, expert teacher, trainer, strategist, personnel manager, administrator, promoter, communications expert, diplomat, spokesperson, psychologist, impartial judge, disciplinarian, caring friend, counselor, parent substitute? A high school coach assumes all of these diverse roles. For the coach, the greatest reward should not be the outcome of winning, but rather the process of training and competition that positively affects the personal development of young athletes. Great coaches use sport as a vehicle to enrich the lives and futures of their athletes.

Volley Ball

The Techniques of the Game
The essential skills of volleyball are the:
• Volley
• Forearm Pass
• Service
• Smash
• Block
THE VOLLEY
The volley is a two-handed pass played above the forehead. With its
high and slow trajectory, it gives beginners the best chance to read
the flight of the ball and to move to the contact point, thus making it
the ideal starting point for teaching the game. Using only the volley it
is possible to get a 1 v 1 game going very quickly. Once mastered, the
volley is the most accurate method of passing the ball.

TYPES OF VOLLEY
The volley is most commonly used to set up an attack. It is used to
put the ball high and close to the net (one metre) so that an attacker
can jump and smash it.
It is also used when receiving a slow-moving ball from the opposition,
to control the ball and pass it to a team mate.
All players need to be able to volley the ball over both short and long
distances (2m to 8m).
Technique Description – Volley (See Figure. 4.1a/b/c/d/e)
The player should:
• be ready to move to the ball (see Ready for Action, page 20) (See
Figure. 4.1a)
• watch the ball and anticipate where it is going (peak point of the
ball – see Ball Flight Judgement)
• move quickly to the interception point (midline of the body, ball
above hairline) maintaining good body shape; be behind and under
the ball
• be balanced and facing the direction in which he/she wants to play
the ball before the ball arrives (see Beating the Ball, page 25)

MINI-VOLLEYBALL

Improving Children’s Physical Development and Performance
In recent years, the strength and performance of children have been changing for the better. This phenomenon is largely due to improvements in the social environment, such as nutrition and quality of living. This notwithstanding, a worrying trend is the increase observed in the number of overweight children, which is detrimental to the enjoyment of sport. It is all the more important, therefore, to pay attention to the nutrition and healthcare of children playing volleyball. Regarding the strength and performance of children, very few differences exist when one compares boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 12. These findings would tend to suggest that the same rules of mini-volleyball can be used for both genders.

More generally, the physical performance in humans consists of five elements: muscular strength, agility, general endurance, flexibility, and body control abilities. Of these, body control abilities such as timing, rhythm, balance, feeling of direction, concentration, and relaxation start to develop first. Figure 1 depicts the increase in human brain weight by age. As can be seen, the nerve centres controlling perception and movement develop rapidly up to the age of 8. Figure 2 shows that reaction times improve particularly between the ages of 8 and 15, when children are in primary or junior high school.

These data underscore the fact that consistent and well-planned coaching is necessary to achieve body control and attain ideal fitness in volleyball. The most suitable time for players to develop these athletic and body control abilities is when they are young. If incorrect movement patterns are learned, considerable effort is required to correct them subsequently. This means that mini-volleyball coaches must carefully study the basic techniques of volleyball so they can modify wrong patterns or bad habits.

Different uses of flowers

Flowers are commonly used for decorative purposes. Different species of flowers are used for adding a touch of natural beauty and grace to the environment. Be it wedding ceremonies or birth of a baby or any other special occasion, flowers are an integral part of decoration. They spruce up the whole ambience, and make it more lively and warm.
But flowers do more than merely adding beauty and artwork to the nature. Flowers are rich in symbolism. Each variety of flower has something special to convey. The meaning of flowers change with their color too. Whereas a deep red rose conveys passionate love, a yellow rose is a symbol of friendship. White rose stands for peace and spiritualism. Flowers are an essential part of many of the life’s important occasions. Flowers at funeral bring a sense of peace and when used at weddings, they add romance, and beauty to the occasion.
Many flowers are used for medicinal purposes. There are many animals that eat flowers for nourishment. Flowers are also used for cooking by humans. Edible flowers are used for garnishing the food items and also as a part of recipe. Flowers are also used for landscaping. Bright, colorful flowers add depth to landscapes, making them the focal point of homes and hotels.
Flowers remove harmful carbon dioxide and toxins from the environment. They feed the honey bee that is responsible for disseminating the food crops and vegetation.
